On November 13, Clarivate released the latest ESI data. Engineering of the University & Academy has been ranked among the ESI global top 1% for the first time. This marks the second new discipline to enter the ESI Global Top 1% this year, following Materials Science. To date, the University & Academy is home to 11 ESI Global Top 1% disciplines, ranking 8th among independent medical universities nationwide. This milestone breakthrough underscores the University & Academy’s robust strength in the interdisciplinary field of medicine and engineering.
Currently, the University & Academy has 11 disciplines in the ESI global top 1%: Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Biology & Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Neuroscience & Behavioral Science, Chemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Social Sciences, General, Materials Science, and Engineering. Notably, Clinical Medicine has consistently ranked in the ESI Global Top 0.1%.
In recent years, the University & Academy has achieved leapfrog development in engineering through three strategic initiatives:
1. Building an interdisciplinary innovation platform of “Medicine + Engineering”, establishing the School of Medicine-Engineering Interdisciplinarity, and developing cutting-edge interdisciplinary directions such as “Medicine + Intelligent Imaging and Radiotherapy”, “Medicine + Intelligent Equipment and Devices”, and “Medicine + Tissue Repair and Regeneration”.
2. Innovating the talent introduction and cultivation mechanism, vigorously promoting the flexible flow of talents across institutions and fields, and implementing the “National-level Talent Cultivation Program” to help young talents grow into national-level talents as soon as possible.
3. Deepening industry-education integration, jointly building joint laboratories with a number of leading enterprises, and accelerating the transformation of scientific research achievements.
The inclusion of Engineering in the ESI Global Top 1% provides stronger disciplinary support for the in-depth and innovative development of medical and engineering disciplines at the University & Academy.
