On August 15, the higher education evaluation organization Shanghai Ranking released the “2024 Academic Ranking of World University (ARWU)”. SDFMU’s position has risen sharply, ranking 681st globally, 132nd among domestic universities, and 12th among independent medical universities, achieving the highest ranking in its history. Since first entering the global top 1,000 in 2021, SDFMU has improved by 273 places in the global ranking over the past three years, with a rise of 17 places in the national ranking and a 6-place increase in the independent medical universities category.

The ARWU (Academic Ranking of World Universities) is the first comprehensive global university ranking. It evaluates universities based on six indicators: alumni awards, faculty awards, highly cited scientists, papers in Nature and Science, international papers, and faculty performance. The ranking includes over 2,500 universities each year, with the top 1,000 universities being published. In 2024, a total of 203 universities from mainland China made the list.
