Recently, the Ministry of Education has released the results of new undergraduate majors in higher education institutes and universities of 2023. Shandong First University received approval to add three new medical majors, including Biomedical Data Science, Intelligent Imaging Engineering, and Rehabilitation Physical Therapy.

In recent years, SDFMU has been continuously advancing the optimization and reform of its academic programs. With a focus on the health and well-being of the people, SDFMU is implementing the concept of “big health” by accelerating the establishment of a medical discipline system that serves the entire life cycle and health process. They have introduced institutional documents such as the “Implementation Measures for Undergraduate Major Setting and Dynamic Adjustment (Trial)” and the “Implementation Plan for Undergraduate Major Modernization (2023-2025)”. These initiatives emphasize the “new medical science” orientation, aligning with the new trends of informatization, digitization, and intelligence in China’s health industry. SDFMU is supporting the joint establishment of interdisciplinary majors and actively applying for scarce majors in fields such as intelligent medicine, Internet healthcare, and medical devices, as well as emerging interdisciplinary majors like “Medicine + X” and “X + Medicine”.

SDFMU will continue to deepen the implementation of the “Reform Plan for the Optimization and Adjustment of Discipline Majors in Higher Education”, gradually forming a professional layout with medicine and pharmacology on both sides, medical engineering intersections, and multidisciplinary support. It aims to create a professional system that aligns with the development goals of SDFMU, enhance the content of majors, promote high-quality development of major construction, and improve the competitiveness of SDFMU.
